Dr. Telang is an Eastside native from Warren, Michigan, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude from Cousino High School. Dr. Telang received his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences (1986) and Doctor of Medicine (1988) through the Inteflex program from the University of Michigan. He completed both his general surgery internship and urology residency at Henry Ford Hospital. He had received additional training in Laparoscopy, Laser application, Interstim Sacral Nerve Stimulation, and Prostate Brachytherapy (seed implants) and Robotic Surgery. Dr. Telang was Board Certified in 1996 and recertified in 2004.
Practicing with GPUS since 1994, Dr. Telang treats patients with all urologic conditions but specializes in female urology (including incontinence and pelvic floor reconstruction), minimally invasive surgery, microsurgery / infertility, and urologic oncology. He is considered an expert in the use of Interstim sacral nerve stimulation to correct a spectrum of bladder and pelvic conditions. Dr. Telang is a trained Robotic surgeon, offering this approach to the treatment of prostate, kidney, and other urologic disorders.
Named one of Detroit Hour Magazine's "Top Docs" for seven consecutive years since 2004 through 2010, Dr. Telang has served as Chief of the Department of Surgery at Bon Secours Cottage Health Services and subsequently Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe. He serves as a Trustee and has served as President of the Grosse Pointe Park Foundation and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Michigan Urologic Society, currently as President-Elect. He is also a member of the American Urological Association, the North Central Section of the AUA, the Michigan State Medical Society, and the Wayne County Medical Society
