Yeamans, Jeffrey M.D.

Dr. Yeamans is happy to have returned “home” to Southeast Michigan with his wife and four children, and is thrilled to practice Urology with Grosse Pointe Urology, now a division of Comprehensive Medical Center PLLC.  His eventual return home was the culmination of a unique and interesting journey over many years.

Dr. Yeamans grew up in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area after his family relocated there from Southfield, Michigan, when he was 5 years old.  He attended the University of Michigan as an undergraduate, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Economics in 1991, and where he met his eventual wife, a Farmington native.  He returned to Washington, D.C., where he spent six years conducting social science and econometric research for a company contracting with federal government agencies.  He also spent time on Capitol Hill with highly ranking U.S. Senator Paul Sarbanes, working as an intern with his legislative staff on the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations and Banking Committees.

Dr. Yeamans returned to school and attended the Georgetown University School of Medicine where he received his medical degree, and stayed on there for his General Surgery Internship and Urology Residency.   He spent six months during his residency at the NIH National Cancer Institute, focusing on basic science and clinical research for familial kidney cancer disorders, laparoscopic kidney and adrenal surgery, and proteomics.  Dr. Yeamans enjoys the practice of Urology, particularly the unique blend of office-based procedures and surgeries, coupled with the ability to follow patients for extended periods of time discussing and managing a wide variety of urologic issues.  He truly enjoys spending time with his patients and learning as much about them personally as the reasons for their urologic visit.

Dr. Yeamans is board certified in the practice of urology.  His specific urologic interests include:

  • Urologic oncology, including surgical and non-surgical management of prostate, kidney, bladder, and testicular cancers
  • Urinary stone disease, including metabolic evaluation and prevention of stones, as well as medical and minimally invasive surgical treatment of stones
  • Minimally invasive surgery for multiple urologic conditions, including vasectomy, prostate and male voiding disorders (BPH, incontinence), and cryotherapy for kidney and prostate tumors
  • Female disorders, including incontinence, pelvic floor reconstruction, and treatment of interstitial cystitis or bladder dysfunction including neuromodulation
  • Robotic and laparoscopic surgery
